How We Operate
YouTube Chat Helper operates entirely locally on your device. The extension does not send any personal information to external servers or third parties.
Permissions Used
The extension requests the following permissions for core functionality:
- storage — Saves your preferences (font size, speed, opacity, avatar display) locally on your device only
- webRequest — Intercepts YouTube live chat data streams to display messages as overlay text
- activeTab — Injects the overlay into the current YouTube tab
Local Storage Only
All user settings and preferences are stored locally using Chrome's storage API. Your data never leaves your device and is never shared with us or any third party.
Chat Data Handling
YouTube Chat Helper displays live chat messages from YouTube's servers directly in your browser. We do not store, log, or transmit any chat messages. All chat data is processed locally and temporarily displayed on your screen.
No Third-Party Services
YouTube Chat Helper does not integrate with any third-party analytics, tracking, or data collection services. The extension does not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or any similar services.
